The impact of prolonged stress.
A healthy level of stress serves a purpose. It triggers our fight flight response that gives us a get up and go attitude. But exposure to prolonged chronic stress limits us. We lose our reserves to think laterally & we lose our reserves to think creatively. We only see what’s directly in front of us. We see what’s tagged “URGENT.” Sometimes when we are chronically stressed for a prolonged period of time, it can also lead to feeling like we have less reserves to cope. We feel triggered by small things and feel overwhelmed with life in general. Chronic stress makes us feel like all we can do is put one foot in front of the other to tick things off the to-do list and just plowing through the motions to get things done can leave us feeling very disconnected.Â
What to expect from a session
- While you relax on a treatment table, your practitioner will gently use your arm to establish neuromuscular biofeedback to determine your unique priorities.
- He/she will quickly and easily determine which communication circuits have been compromised because of stress and in which order these lines of communication need to be repaired for the fastest possible healing process.
- Once the practitioner has established the issues to be addressed, a three-pronged tapping procedure is initiated. In BODYTALK we use tapping because it soothes the stress centers in the body. Particularly the brain’s stress centers like the amygdala and the hypothalamus. We also encourage mindfulness breathing during your bodytalk sessions so that the nervous system can have every opportunity to regulate.
